The hidden truth of the placebo effect

Have you ever heard of the placebo effect? You may have heard it somewhere but hav no ida what what it is.

The placebo effect is a real tool which the most successful academics use when formulating their goals and the process of its execution. Quite often the placebo effect has been attributed to the idea of positive thinking, that a positive mindset can allow you to achieve your lifelong ambitions- however this is misstated.

The placebo effect the idea that you really believe something will happen. Positive thinking allows you to focus on the positives and disregard the negatives- however the placebo effect takes positive thinking to the next level.

According to Professor Ted Kaptchuk of Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, he notes: "The placebo effect is more than positive thinking — believing a treatment or procedure will work. It's about creating a stronger connection between the brain and body and how they work together.”

What is amazing is that if you really believe in something your mind subconsciously acts as to what has happened. Applying this to schooling, when a student walks into an exam confident there is a significantly higher proportion of success attributed to that student relative to a student who has very little confidence.

Tutoring plays a big factor in this idea, as teachers can guide students in a way which not only enhances their academics but allows them to be assured they have all the knowledge necessary to achieve great results- in turn allowing them to have a real sense of confidence.

The power of the subconscious mind can sometimes be understated and rarely taught in primary or secondary science.

What is extraordinary, is the subconscious mind is subjective and only acts as the conscious mind tells it. This means whatever the conscious mind tells the subconscious it will act on it. This places a light on the power each student has in achieving academic and personal success.

Being able to practice time management, study, discipline and a love of learning is paramount for all students. Without the programming of the subconscious mind at an early age, students may find it difficult to study at a later age. The best time to start tutoring is at the early stages of academic growth as students begin to permanently store the habits and tools of academic success.

The power of the placebo effect and the power of the subconscious mind is inextricably linked and is the founding stone to student acceleration.
